Yay! I added a new country to my list of countries I’ve been to: Luxembourg! During my trip to Belgium, I used this opportunity to go visit this very small country nestled between Belgium, France and Germany. Although I’m sure we could’ve spent more time there, we covered a lot of the country in only 1 day, and my gas tank barely went down by a quarter! haha
We decided to go explore the countryside more than the big towns, so instead of driving on the big highways straight to Luxembourg City, we took smaller roads and made our way to a pretty small village called Esch-sur-Sûre in the Ardennes area. We walked around the village a bit, saw some old ruins and then had a quick lunch (i.e. our usual sandwich that we made in the car) on a picnic table by the river. We then continued our way to Luxembourg City, still on smaller roads, stopping a few times along the way to take some pictures and also stopped at an amazing organic store we found along the way! They even had an organic cheese/deli counter and organic bakery counter with yummy treats. Yum! I love all the organic food available everywhere we go here!
We got to Luxembourg in the late afternoon, walked around the Haute-ville (old city), got myself a Ferrero ice cream cone (yum!) and drove back to the Brussels, Belgium area before nightfall (it’s still daylight at 10:30pm here!).
If I have the chance to come back to this area, I’d love to spend a few days exploring the countryside more and doing some hiking.
Lots of beautiful rolling hills, pretty flowers (I hope they weren’t GMO crops!) and happy cows in the fields.
If you plan a trip to Luxembourg, make sure you check out their national tourist board official website that will give you lots of useful information. 🙂
Gorgeous! You have the best adventures!
