It’s easier to say Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie than to list all of the wonderful ingredients that are in it! Part of my Smoothie Challenge on Facebook, this delicious smoothie is Day 12 of 14, so we’re nearing the end. If you haven’t seen it, yesterday’s recipe was this amazing bright red Heart Beet Smoothie with beet (obviously) and strawberries, and it tastes so good, it’s crazy!
As you may know, some foods are naturally rich in anti-inflammatory properties, so I packed this baby with a whole bunch of various superfoods like ginger, turmeric, avocado, coconut oil, hemp seeds, pineapple, and Brazil nuts.
Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Why is this a good thing? Having inflammation in our body is not a good thing, it means that there is something wrong. Inflammation is a natural process that the body uses to send signal to send the troops and heal itself, so under normal circumstances, inflammation is actually a really good thing when it’s localized to a certain area that got injured. However, because of various reasons, our bodies are put under a lot of various stresses, pollution, ultra-processed foods with low nutrition, allergies, etc. and our body produces too much inflammation that becomes generalized all over, and that is not a good thing, because it means your body is under constant emergency alert, and getting overwhelmed. This can create joint issues, etc.
Regularly eating foods that naturally contain anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial for us. Turmeric is an increasingly popular one, but others are good too, such as coconut oil and avocado, since they contain essential fatty acids (the good kind of fats) that will helps our joints as well. Think of it like a natural lubrication. It’s also beneficial for our brains to function properly.
Pineapple contains natural enzymes that not only help our digestive system, but also inflammation!
This smoothie has a longer ingredient list than usual, but it’s totally worth it because it’s delicious and truly is a superfood-packed anti-inflammatory smoothie!
Bon appétit!
